The OSD has been developed for use without preservatives or additives such as silver ions or surface coating.
It utilizes a purely mechanical Tip-Seal technology and a filter-membrane. The Tip-Seal prevents backflow into the tip and the sterile filter membrane filters any incoming air when the system is ventilated.

Inert and safe packaging is particularly important for sensitive eye-care formulations. The OSD’s fluid pathway is metal-free, enabling it to avoid any oxidative reactions of the formulation with ferric metals.
To protect highly sensitive or reactive formulations, particularly inert plastic materials can be used for the container and the spray pin of the Tip-Seal.
